The last candidate for President of the Republic Andronicos Zervides, spoke about his manifesto. (See the interview here: Andronikos: The next PD wants wisdom– I am afraid only of God and my wife | News (sigmalive.com))
He began by saying that people watching him now on TV will say “who is this Andronikos Zervides who jumped out like a turnip, we don’t know him and he has this hair, maybe he got confused and wanted to run for Archbishop”.
Questioned on what made him run for office he said he did it out of anger, “I wrote 77 pages in my manifesto because I was angry at our system. I think I have the solutions. Some people will say I’m crazy, but I don’t care, I’m only afraid of God and my wife if I do something naughty.
He went on to say. “I’m tired of hearing that this is how Cyprus is, this is how things are. No that’s not how Cyprus is, I have the solutions. I want the state to help young people; the help doesn’t stop when they finish university, they should get good jobs and everyone will be happy. I wrote my manifesto honestly and I am not afraid of anyone, some people will be angry and others will say yes very good idea.
I wrote it because I believe that things will get better in Cyprus. I have a lot of respect for the other candidates. The problem is that we don’t play as a team and I don’t care what they think of me, if they make fun of my hair and how I talk. I’m going to start my own political party and name it ‘142’.”
He noted that a good president must have wisdom, be smart, be able to sell his ideas not to Cyprus but to the world, be able to be a good manager and also to have very nice hair.1
